Workers Compensation Officer
Commencing in March
Location Perth
An excellent opportunity has arisen in a progressive Department for an experienced Workers Compensation Officer for a period of 6 months. This may be either by secondment or contract. The position may then be advertised as a permanent position.
Pay is in the range $40,000 to $48,000 and is contingent upon relevant experience, which is essential for the position.
Key Responsibilities include
1. Provision of efficient and responsive worker's compensation and rehabilitation service to clients,
2. Provide input to the development of consistent approaches to best practice management of worker's compensation and rehabilitation within the Department,
3. Process and monitor workers compensation and common law claims ensuring all interactions, investigations and documentation complies with quality, legal and probity standards including RiskCover requirements.
4. Negotiate with the State Government Insurance Commission, relevant Solicitors, Loss Adjusters and medical practioners on issues relating to the finalisation of claims and settlement.
5. Provide a consultancy service to Senior Management on the Department's policies and procedures in relation to worker's compensation and rehabilitation.
Outcomes
1. Worker's Compensation and rehabilitation policies, procedures and work practices are maintained and adhered to.
2. Effective communication networks are established within the Department, relevant solicitors, Loss Adjusters, Medical Practioners and other external parties.
3. Staff are provided with a comprehensive claims consultation service that allows for the prompt resolution of worker's compensation and common law claims.
4. Reporting requirements on worker's compensation issues such as claim reviews, payments and profiles are met and provided to appropriate individuals.
5. Education & training is provided to key district staff in the management of worker's compensation claims
Essential Selection Criteria
1. Well-developed communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills including the ability to deal effectively with individuals at all levels.
2. Experience in managing claims within a worker's compensation and/or rehabilitation environment.
3. Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills, with an ability to provide innovative thinking in problem solving.
4. Demonstrated ability to work and interact in a team environment.
5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply the Workers Compensation, Occupational Health & Safety act together with any other relevant legislation.
6. Experience in the use of relevant software packages.
