PROJECT MANAGER (LEVEL 7)

The Employment Branch of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet is responsible for a range of strategic workforce management and workforce development functions including entry-level recruitment, redeployment, management of the SES, HR policy and legislation, leadership and management development and others.
Expressions of interest are being sought for a six-month secondment to the Branch to undertake a project relating to traineeships.
The project will review the Branch's strategic role in relation to:
* Youth traineeships.
* InStep and School-based traineeships.
* Aboriginal traineeships.
* Placement of applicants from EEO target groups.
* Applicant screening and referral processes.
* Linkage with recommendations of the Youth Employment Sub-
Committee of the Strategic Management Council, and their
implementation.
* Liaison with the Department of Training regarding traineeships policy.
The outcome of the review would be a set of recommendations which align these functions with the strategic needs of the WA public sector and the needs of agencies.
The successful applicant will be required to work independently and will have:
* Self-motivation and resourcefulness.
* Project management skills and the ability to analyse trends and issues
relevant to the public sector.
* Highly developed communication skills.
* Research, planning and evaluation skills.
* Sound knowledge of public sector employment issues.
* Experience as a senior HR or Policy Practitioner/Manager.
A knowledge of the Vocational Education and Training system would also be useful.
