Whether in formal meetings or informal discussions, between groups or
one-to-one, your interactions can be made more effective with
facilitation skills. In this 10 week course, you will experience and
reflect on concepts such as group development, content and process,
conflict and communication, and group leadership. This program is
experiential and offers an approach to facilitation, not a bag of
tricks.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this experiential program, participants will be able to:
* Describe the role of the facilitator and its central underpinnings
* Define key communication skills essential to the role of facilitator
* State the stages of group development
* Discuss the differences between content and process
* Design facilitator and group warm up
* List the essential elements of a session
Presenter: Roberta Mead BBus MBA works as an organisational
consultant in the areas of organisational development and change,
planning and problem solving, using facilitated processes to achieve
organisational goals. Roberta uses a facilitated style in both her
teaching and consulting and believes developing the facilitator role
is a process of learning, practising and maturing in both the
understanding and application of the craft. The 10 session
Facilitation at Work program is experiential and both participation
and reflection are required to engage in the learning. An approach
and way of thinking about facilitation are offered.
In the year 2000 Roberta won the Australian scholarship for
registration at the annual international conference for facilitators
in Toronto, Canada. In 2002 she has been accepted as a volunteer
facilitator for the July 20, 'Listening to the City' citizens' summit
event in New York where decisions will be made about shaping the
future of Lower Manhattan including a memorial to the victims of
September 11
