RELEVANCE TO THE PUBLIC SECTOR:
Ethical decision making often involves dealing with a complex network of
stakeholders with conflicting interests. Everything from how we treat
colleagues and customers through to decisions about public resources is
premised on some kind of ethical position. This course aims to assist
participants to deal with and resolve ethical problems in the workplace.

 
RECOMMENDED FOR:
This course has been designed for any person who is required to make
decisions within the public service.
 
COURSE CONTENT:
The Ethics in the Workplace Course is delivered in accordance with the
Public Services Training Package (PSP99) and will provide participants
who successfully complete the course, with the following Unit from the
Ethics and Accountability competency standards:
PSPETHC301A Uphold the Values and Principles of Public Service
 
COURSE OUTCOMES:
At the completion of this 1-day course participants should have a better
understanding of:
* What is meant by ethics
* Factors that impact on ethical and moral reasoning
* Ethical guidelines and codes of conduct
* How to apply ethical standards in a range of situations
* How to test the ethics of a decision
* How to deal with and resolve ethical problems in the workplace
 
COURSE DELIVERY
Aragon's approach to people development is practically orientated. We
focus on delivering the required knowledge of the course in a way that
is easily transferred to the workplace. We achieve this by providing
comprehensive but easy to read course notes, using accredited
presenters, using adult learning techniques and ensuring all
discussion/presentation of underpinning knowledge is supported by
practical exercises that provide the opportunity to apply this
knowledge.
 
COURSE RECOGNITION:
This course is Nationally Recognised. Successful completion provides
participants with the 'Uphold the Values and Principles of Public
Service' Unit (PSPETHC301A) from the Ethics and Accountability
competency standards of the Public Services Training Package (PSP99).
This is a core unit for the Certificate III or IV in Government.
