RELEVANCE TO THE PUBLIC SECTOR
The program provides participants with current skills and knowledge appropriate to staff selection within the Public Sector. All information provided will be consistent with E.E.O. principles, behavioural selection processes and meet the requirements of current public sector standards in human resource management. The consultants will provide information on the compliance requirements of the Recruitment, Selection and Appointment Standard.
The course addresses the specific requirements of those personnel required to manage the selection process as well as staff required to participate as panel members. The content of the course is based on a combination of the provision of current information, the application of knowledge and extensive skill practice.
COURSE OUTCOMES
The Selection Training Course will enable participants to:
* acquire knowledge and understanding of current selection processes, legal implications and appointment procedures,
contextualised to organisational requirements,
* explore a variety of alternative selection techniques,
* practise shortlisting and preparing interview questions,
* experience an interview situation, including issues related to making the decision, and
* examine the policy and logistical arrangements for,
· implementing a range of selection techniques,
· convening a panel,
· preparing interview arrangements,
· checking referees,
· preparing documentation on the selection, and
· giving feedback to applicants.
