UWA EXTENSION PRESENTS:

MANAGING CHALLENGING BEHAVIOUR
Tracey McGrath, Psychologist
042008 Thu 9am-4pm Mar 11 $275 LIMIT: 20
Conflict, like death and taxes, is inescapable. No matter who we are
or what we do we will still encounter challenging behaviour. This
program is for those who are interested in mastering the 'conflict
cycle' and learning how to minimise conflict and maximise outcomes.
Topics to be covered will include: the conflict cycle; major causes
of challenging behaviour and a method for negotiating effectively
with emotional people.

You will benefit from this program by:
Learning strategies for managing all five stages of the conflict cycle
Learning the 3 major causes of challenging behaviour
Learning the habit formation model of the mind explaining human
behaviour especially under challenging conditions
Identifying your own emotional responses to a range of challenging
behaviours including: being cut off or hung-up on, abusive language,
criticism or sarcasm.
Identifying their existing body language and discovering methods for
maximising rapport and reducing the likelihood of triggering further
outbursts.
Learning a range of realistic strategies for coping with challenging
behaviour and managing the stress that may arise.
Learning a method for negotiating safely and effectively with
emotionally upset people.

Presenter: Tracey McGrath has been called 'The Queen of Conflict'.
She specialises in helping people and organisations resolve conflict
and other barriers to performance. Tracey deals with the issues that
most of us don't want to, but can't afford to ignore! - how to manage
angry and emotional clients, deal with entrenched behaviour,
uncooperative or difficult colleagues and teams, stress and burnout.
A well-known speaker and registered psychologist, Tracey is committed
to making the workplace an enjoyable, productive and stimulating
place to be. She will leave you laughing whilst providing solid,
well-researched and practical strategies for dealing with the
conflict and stress of today's work environment. She is among only 60
Australians certified as 'Accredited Profeessional Speakers' and one
of only two Australian delegates to attend the 'Nexus International
Conference on Emotional Intelligence' in San Francisco in 2000. Her
professional development programmes are unique in that they combine
skills-based strategies with a foundation of emotional intelligence.
In this manner, people attending her programmes gain the skills
required for behaviour change as well as addressing the emotional
foundations underpinning these issues.
