JOB TYPE: Temporary Full-Time
DURATION: 12 months
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Creates opportunities for children and young people to participate in local decision-making and facilitates their engagement in events and activities. Provides support to policy and programs. Promotes and supports the development of childrens/youth plans. Supervises and provides leadership and mentoring to Development Officers.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
 Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to establish networks and build relationships with key stakeholders.
 Demonstrated ability to supervise, lead and mentor staff and coordinate training and professional development for suppliers.
 Knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues relating to children and young people.
 Good problem solving skills including conceptual and analytical ability.
 Demonstrated experience in project management.
 Understanding of, and experience in, community development processes and in working with Indigenous and remote communities.
 Certificate of Secondary Education (Year 10) or equivalent.
 Possession of a current ‘A’ or ‘C-A’ class driver’s licence.
 Current knowledge of legislative obligations in relation to Equal Opportunity, Disability Services and Occupational Safety and Health and how these impact on employment and service delivery.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
 Knowledge of initiatives, services, programs and policies targeted at children and young people in Western Australia.
 Knowledge of methods of engaging with children and young people in local settings.
