DURATION: 3 months

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the guidance of the Manager, Workforce Strategy & Development and as part of the WSD team, the Senior WSD Officer is responsible for:
 Providing a comprehensive consultancy service, assistance and advice on complex human resource management issues to management and staff in designated portfolio areas within the Department.
 Developing, implementing and evaluating workforce development strategies that support the recruitment, development and retention of high quality, appropriately skilled human resources for the department.
 Undertaking workforce, reporting, planning and forecasting activities to support workforce planning and human resource organisational development.
 Providing specialist human resources, redeployment and recruitment services advice and interpretation throughout the Department.
 Coordinating and contributing towards the research and development of human resource policy and related issues in conjunction with the HR Policy & Support area.
 Working collaboratively with HR managers to ensure integrated service provision.
 Establishing a service delivery culture, standards and style based upon honouring commitments, fostering team spirit and building relationships.
 Providing high quality service and advice that is proactive, solution focused and responsive to customer needs.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
1. Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of contemporary human resource strategies and initiatives in organisational development/workforce planning.
2. Demonstrated project management skills.
3. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and demanding deadlines.
4. Sound interpersonal, verbal, negotiation and written communication skills including report writing.
5. Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships; facilitate process review groups and a commitment to quality customer service principles.
6. Demonstrated experience in research, analysis and presentation of workforce planning information
7. Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary directions in human resource management.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
1. Experience in the use of a database report-writing tool and extraction of management information.
2. A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
3. Current knowledge and commitment to equal opportunity in all aspects of employment and service delivery.
