MARINE EDUCATION OFFICER
Position Number: 02118373
Level: 5
Salary: $51,884 - $57,342 pa
Location: Fremantle
This position is a temporary position available for 6 months with the possibility of an
extension.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Implements and maintains legislation, policies and procedures in relation to
certificates of competency and safety crewing.
Conducts oral examinations for certificates of competency.
Controls the appointment and audit regime in relation to private examiners and
training providers.
Assists with the conduct of boating safety education programs.
SELECTION CRITERIA
ESSENTIAL
* Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate effectively with external customer
* Good oral and written communications skills with the ability to draft reports on technical matter
* Sound knowledge of standards, codes and legislation applicable to the maritime industry
* Good level of knowledge and experience in the development and delivery of training programs
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to equal opportunity and occupational health, safety and welfare principles
* Knowledge of quality management principles, continuous improvement methods and audit processes
* Ability to analyse marine safety issues and make appropriate recommendations
* A tertiary qualification in a relevant marine discipline
