South Hedland, Community Development & Statewide Services

Level 2/4 (Clause 11): $35,952 - $49,293

Position Number: 001145

Commencing as soon as possible for up to 12 months

Job Description:

- Provide preventative and supportive education services for children who come under the care of or the attention of Department For Community Development.

- Plan, deliver and maintain suitable educational programmes in appropriate education settings in consultation with appropriate departmental staff to children and families.

- Negotiate and liaise with caregivers, school personnel and other relevant agencies in the provision of education services.

- Provide a direct service to the child, family or caregiver where appropriate, focusing on language and appropriate social behaviour.

Selection Criteria:

ESSENTIAL
Demonstrated competency in:
1. ability to work effectively and negotiate with individuals, groups and agencies.
2. ability to work constructively and effectively in a multi disciplinary team setting.
3. communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
Demonstrated experience in:
4. working with disadvantaged sector and awareness of the gaps that may exist between home and school.
5. the education systems with preference to lower primary or pre-primary level.
6. the provisions of appropriate educational services for clients.
7. Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development;
8. Diploma of Teaching or Teacher's Certificate or equivalent;
9. Current 'A' class motor vehicle drivers licence.

DESIRABLE
1. Demonstrated ability to effectively deliver a programme in a home setting;
2. Understanding and sensitivity towards Aboriginal and other cultures; and
3. Demonstrated experience in the provision of education services outside the school system.
