        Expressions of interest are invited for the above position.

        The Regulatory Services Directorate of the Energy Safety Division offers a challenging and rewarding career in the Licensing Office of the State's energy regulator, which carries out technical and safety regulation, including licensing of electrical & gas operatives. We are seeking a person with experience in customer service that has strong team skills to join our friendly, customer-focussed team.

        DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
        Advises customers on legislative, educational, training and competency requirements for licensing of electrical and gas operatives. Assesses applications for various types of licence, recommends appropriate action or processes in accordance with established procedures. Informs customers of licence application outcomes either personally or by correspondence. Receives monies, reconciles balances and maintains records as required. Updates information system databases and extracts, analyses and reports on trends and statistics. Undertakes projects as necessary.

        SELECTION CRITERIA:

        ESSENTIAL
        * Ability to work independently and to organise one's own workload to produce outputs in a timely and accurate manner.
        * Ability to use initiative and work under pressure.
        * Ability to demonstrate a genuine commitment to and responsiveness to providing quality customer service.
        * Demonstrated ability to constructively work as a member of a team.
        * Good communication skills, including:
                        good telephone technique / manner; and
                negotiation skills to reach a positive outcome
        * Conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to solve problems using innovative thinking.
        * An ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation.
        * Computer literacy, with the ability to input, extract, manipulate and interpret data.

        DESIRABLE
                * Knowledge of electrical and gas operative licensing requirements.
