Period of Acting: 3 months with possibility of extension
Expressions of interest are invited for the above temporary vacancy whilst the substantive occupant is acting in a more senior position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops policies, procedures and technical standards for the safety and energy efficiency of gas appliances/components and gas installations. Provides advice to industry and undertakes liaison and audits of industry practices for the regulation of gas appliance safety and efficiency. Develops gas safety programmes.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
ESSENTIAL
* Degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Gas Engineering.
* Eligible for Corporate membership of IEAust.
* Good communication and negotiation skills.
* Demonstrated initiative, sound judgement and analytical skills.
* Knowledge of the design/construction of gas installations and appliances/equipment
* Knowledge of gas combustion and thermal processes.
* Knowledge of the Gas Standards Act and Regulations and gas related Australian Standards.
* Ability to competently operate personal computer/workstation and an understanding of database systems.
DESIRABLE
* Understanding of the testing requirements for gas appliances and components to ascertain compliance with codes and standards for approval/certification purposes.
* Experience in negotiating with industry persons at a professional level.
* Knowledge of energy industry issues.
* Driver's licence.
