    Sandy

if it meets the acceptable development criteria as you suggest then I would think that it is OK, in unless the City has an endorsed policy that varies this requirement

    Subject: RE: Carports

In relation to carports Clause A3.4 allow carports within the street
setback provided that the width of carport does not exceed 50 percent of
the frontage at the building line and the construction allows an
unobstructed view between the dwelling and street, right of way or
equivalent. Therefore this clause allows carports within the street
setback (as outlined in Table 1) to be considered as acceptable
    development?

    Does any one else agree?

    Thanks

    Subject: RE: Carports

Carports are buildings and are therefore required to be set back in
accordance with Table 2 under 3.3.1. Carports cannot be built on the
boundary under 3.3.2 by right as this provision only relates to certain
codings for development behind the setback line.

Carports are permitted to abut a boundary also they are permitted to be
located within the "street set back area", even up to the front boundary
providing that the correct manoeuvring space is achieved. Does this mean
that a carport can be built within the front setback up to the side
    boundary
and also abutting the front boundary?
