EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

Principal Policy Manager - (Two Positions), Level 7
Office of Native Title,
DEPARTMENT OF THE PREMIER AND CABINET
Salary: $70,356 - $75,408

The Office of Native Title of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet invites expressions of interest from suitable applicants for this challenging acting/secondment opportunity for a period of three months with the possibility of an extension.

Permanent public sector employees will be considered on a secondment/acting basis so please check with your department/supervisor for possible release prior to submitting your application.

Duties:
Provides high level support, advice, management and representation on native title matters for consideration for the Office of Native Title.

Selection Criteria
ESSENTIAL:
Relevant Skills and Abilities
v Highly developed conceptual, analytical and decision-making skills.
v High level written and oral communication skills.
v Demonstrated negotiation skills and proven ability to effectively liaise with senior officers and key stakeholders in both the public and private sectors.

Work Experience
v Experience in complex case management.
v Experience in supervising staff, and working in a team environment.

Relevant Knowledge
v Good working knowledge of the Native Title Act and a good understanding of the processes arising out of that legislation.

DESIRABLE:
v Tertiary qualifications in law, social science or other relevant discipline.
v Good understanding of the process of government policy development.
v Awareness of issues facing Aboriginal communities generally.
