COMPLAINTS/POLICY OFFICER

Secondment/Fixed Term Contract
(up to 3 months to commence as soon as possible)
with the possibility of an extension
The Office of Health Review (OHR) is an independent statutory agency responsible for resolving complaints from members of the public about health and disability service providers.
ELIGIBILITY:
This position is to be filled by temporary transfer at level or HDA arrangements for the period of the vacancy. Current government employees (including permanent, fixed term contract and those on secondment) are eligible to apply. (Please obtains secondment/ transfer clearance from your line manager/supervisor before applying).
Please note that the selection process may not necessarily include the conduct of interviews.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assesses complaints, makes recommendations on outcomes and liaises with both parties to facilitate resolution of complaints; assists in the development of policy and procedures.
1. Complaints Investigation and Assessment
Interviews, investigates, assess and resolves complaints between members of the public and health providers by gathering evidence, undertaking negotiations and attempting to resolve complaints of less complex complaints. Prepares case summaries on complaints for the Annual Report or for referral to a Registration Board.
2. Projects and Research
Undertakes research into health related issues and trends as required.
Assists in the development and implementation of policy and procedures.
Drafting ministerial responses as directed.
3. Advice and Awareness
Provides complaints with information and advice on the Office and other avenues of complaint. Contributes to initiatives to advance the Office’s outreach activities.
