DURATION: 6 months

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Expressions of Interest are sought from officers interested acting in the above position from the 9th October for a period of three months, with possible extensions of a further three months. It is intended to also create a pool of applicants to fill any further temporary vacancies within this period.

Key Responsibiities of the position include:
 Assist in the prompt resolution of desktop hardware and software problems.
 Provide assistance on IT related issues to customers as required.
 Install test and configure hardware and software in line with established procedures and DLI’s Standard Operating Environment and Change Management procedures.
 Liaise with vendors, contractors and service providers to obtain support and repairs and to resolve systems problems to maintain continuity of business in line with DOLA policies.
 Ensure all necessary documentation and records relating to procedures and operational work is complete and current.
 Participate fully in rostered services as required. This may involve early starts, late finishes and weekend/overtime work. This will include rostered on call to provide out of hour’s support for DLI systems.
 Assist on Service Desk as required.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Applicants should provide competency in the following areas:

Communication Skills
Demonstrate well-developed verbal and written skills. The ability to communicate information clearly and accurately with customers, contractors and suppliers, as well as the ability to document procedures and prepare clear, concise and accurate reports is essential to this criteria.
Customer and Team Focus
Demonstrate very high customer service skills including conflict resolution. These must be coupled with effective interpersonal skills and a positive team player attitude that will foster constructive working relationships. It will also be necessary to demonstrate the ability to negotiate with customers, stakeholders, and team members.
Achievement Orientation
Delivery of service to our customers on a timely basis within agreed SLAs is essential to this criteria. The officer will demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision and will possess time management and prioritisation skills that will assist in this service delivery.
Discipline
Progress towards or completion of a tertiary qualification in an IT related discipline or equivalent industry experience.
Demonstrate:
 experience in networking and in networked office systems
 project management skills.
 technical ability in the installation, configuration, and support of desktop computers and end-user applications in a networked environment, with particular attention to Windows products.
 a knowledge and application of the security requirements of a networked environment.
 Proven competent user of corporate applications.
 Experience in liasing with clients in an IT support environment.
 Sound analytical and problem solving skills.
 Experience in the evaluation, installation and support of hardware and software.
 Knowledge of networked office systems based on Unix, Windows and Oracle.
