Policy Division
Department of the Premier and Cabinet
Salary: $70,356 - $75,408

The Policy Division of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet
invites expressions of interest from suitable applicants for this
challenging acting/secondment opportunity for a period of 12 months.

Permanent public sector employees will be considered on a
secondment/acting basis so please check with your department/supervisor
for possible release prior to submitting your application.

The Policy Division is seeking a highly motivated individual with
exceptional policy and communication skills and a thorough knowledge of
environmental policy issues and government processes. Legal and/or
economic qualifications would also be an advantage.

Duties:
Plays a key role in researching, developing, analysing and providing
advice to the highest levels of Government on a wide range of
environmental policy issues. Manages and supports whole of Government
policy development activities, including complex research and analysis,
negotiation, coordination, implementation and review.

Selection Criteria
ESSENTIAL:
Highly developed interpersonal skills to successfully interact and
cooperate with Ministers, their staff, Directors General, CEOs and
senior officers across a wide variety of organisations, including NGOs
and other Governments.

Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in providing high level policy
support and advice, including policy formulation, implementation, review
and evaluation pertinent to environmental policy across government.

Highly developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills.

Highly developed written and oral communication skills.

Significant experience with and/or knowledge of the processes for the
development of Government policy, including the Parliamentary, Cabinet
and Executive Government processes.

Detailed knowledge of current State Government environmental policies,
priorities and practices in Western Australia.
