SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCE POLICY OFFICER

Level 5: $51,884 - $57,342
Position Number: 004122

Commencing as soon as possible for 6 months (with possible extension up to 12 months)

Job Description:
In the Senior Human Resource Policy Officer role, you will work within a small, dynamic team that develops and designs HR policy, procedures, practice and standards to support the Department's HR practice. As this is a newly created team, you will have the exciting opportunity to improve and develop a broad range of HR policies, and also develop new initiatives and achieve consistency in application of public sector legislation and regulations.

Through your role, you will communicate extensively with internal stakeholders as to the effectiveness of existing policy, undertake research, lead consultation with key stakeholders and develop draft policy with supporting project plans that identify the communication and education processes required to successfully implement the policy throughout the Department.

As the Senior Human Resource Policy Officer, you will have a sound understanding of contemporary human resource management, have had extensive operational HR experience and can demonstrate this knowledge and experience in a policy development context.

Selection Criteria:
Essential: HI - Highly Important, I - Important
Desirable: D - Desirable

- Certificate of Secondary Education (Year 10) or equivalent (HI)
- Sound knowledge and understanding of human resource management principles and practice. (HI)
- Demonstrated experience in research, analysis and policy development. (HI)
- Well developed, conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills. (HI)
- Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation and regulations relating to human resource management in the public sector, and provide relevant advice to management and staff. (HI)
- High level communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise with people at all levels. (HI)
- Substantial knowledge of contemporary human resource management principles and practice. (I)
- Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships and a commitment to quality customer service principles. (I)
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline. (D)
- Current knowledge and commitment to equal opportunity in all aspects of employment and service delivery. (D)
