Expressions of Interest are sought to act in the following position for an
initial period between 5 December 2003 and 27 February 2004. The WA Police
Service wishes to fill this position and create a pool of suitable
applicants to fill other, similar, positions as they arise up to June 2004.

ROLE OF THE POSITION:
The major role of the position is to reconcile the bank and general ledger
accounts to the information held on the Financial Information System. The
position also provides Treasury with a monthly, certified, reconciliation
statement and monthly transaction record of trust accounts on the
Treasurer's account bank system (TABS).
The position provides electronic data to the Commonwealth Bank that is
required for cheque production on a daily basis and, reconciles daily
discrepancies between the Commonwealth Bank cheque production and the
Financial Information System. The position is required to supervise and
train staff under its control.
The position is required to ensure that the receipts of monies and raising
of accounts have been correctly classified and accurately recorded with the
Financial Accounting System and completed in accordance with the Financial
Administration and Audit Act, Regulations and Treasurer's Instructions
(FAAA), relevant legislation and agency policies and procedures.
Internal contacts include all relevant sections within the WA Police
Service. External contacts include Treasury Department and other Public
Sector agencies.
ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA:

* Experience in financial accounting procedures and practices.
* Ability to work in a team environment
* Ability to manage ethical behaviour.
