Commencing as soon as possible for 3 months contract/secondment with possiblity of extension
Job Description:
Under the guidance of the Coordinator Employee Services and as part of the Employee Services team the Senior Employee Services Officer is responsible for:
- Providing a comprehensive consultancy service, assistance and advice on complex human resource management issues to management and staff in designated portfolio areas within the Department.
- Providing specialist employee and industrial relations advice and interpretation throughout the Department.
- Coordinating representation and advocacy services for the Department.
- Investigating and negotiating the resolution of industrial relations matters.
- Coordinating and contributing towards the research and development of employee relations and human resource management policy and related issues in conjunction with the HR Policy & Support team.
- Working collaboratively with HR managers and staff to ensure integrated service provision.
- Establishing a service delivery culture, standards and style based upon honouring commitments, fostering team spirit and building relationships.
- Providing a high quality service and advice that is proactive and solution focussed and responsive to customer needs.
Selection Criteria:
ESSENTIAL
1. Certificate of secondary education (Year 10) or equivalent.
2. Demonstrated ability to provide employee relations advice to a broad range of people, including senior management and line managers.
3. Well developed knowledge of contemporary human resource management principles and practice.
4. Current applied knowledge of State, Federal legislation, Public Sector employer obligations and good knowledge of employment law labour / industrial / workplace relations.
5. Well developed research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to negotiate and appear as an advocate before State or Federal industrial tribunals or similar bodies.
7. Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships and a commitment to quality customer service principles.
8. Current knowledge and commitment to equal opportunity in all aspects of employment and service delivery.
DESIRABLE
9. A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
