EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
NATIONAL TRUST OF AUSTRALIA (WA)
FINANCE OFFICER
LEVEL 4

CLOSING DATE: 5.00PM FRIDAY 5 MARCH 2004
 
A six month contract/secondment position is offered for a suitably
qualified and/or experienced person to undertake the role of "Finance
Officer" at the National Trust of Australia (WA). The key
responsibilities are as outlined:
 
a) Responsible for overseeing and maintaining the accounts
payable/receivable functions of the National Trust of Australia (WA)
and
ensuring that proper process and procedures are established and
maintained in line with FAAA and Treasurer's Instruction;
 
b) Ensure that the National Trust of Australia (WA) registers,
including the grant and asset registers, are maintained in a
professional manner; and
 
c) Assist the Manager of Finance and Audit to meet financial
compliance
requirements in relation to statutory reporting and budget papers.
 
Essential Criteria

a) Tertiary qualifications in accounting;

b) Experience in accounting/finance environment in the Public Sector;

c) Demonstrated experience in financial management and reporting
systems, including development and management of computer based
accounting systems;
 
d) Significant experience in financial reporting including cash and
accrual. Proven skills and experience in analysing financial data;
 
e) Demonstrated experience in preparing budgets within the Public
Sector, including knowledge of budget paper requirements and ability
to
assist in preparing the organisation's consolidated budget paper;
 
f) Substantial experience in taxation law as it applies to the Public
Sector;
 
g) Proven strong interpersonal and liaison skills, including the
ability to work with internal and external personnel;
 
h) Sound knowledge of the FAAA and ability to interpret and apply
legislation;
 
i) Highly developed communication and analytical skills;
 
j) Ability to work alone and as a team member; and
 
k) Sound, demonstrated information technology skills including the use
of MS Office Suite of software including Access, Excel and Outlook.
 
Desirable
 
a) Knowledge of the heritage industry; and

b) Experience in working with volunteers.
